The Ultimate Siargao Tour- Best Places To Visit 2024

Planning to travel to Siargao any time soon? The beautiful island of Siargao in the province of Surigao del Norte is one of the popular destinations in the Philippines. Dubbed as the "Surfing Capital of the Philippines", Siargao offers all-year-round good waves which are perfect for surfing. But more than that, Siargao also features a lot of breathtaking sceneries and exciting activities that will surely give you excitement to visit the island. On this blog, I'll be sharing some of the best places to visit in Siargao

How To Get To Siargao

Airlines such as Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific fly between Manila and Siargao. There's also a regular flight from Clark and Cebu going to Siargao.

Another option is to take a flight from Manila to Surigao City. From there, take a ferry to Dapa Port in Siargao Island. You can also take a flight going to Butuan City. From the airport, take a bus going to the port and take a ferry going to Siargao Island.

Getting Around Siargao

Tricycles are the main mode of transportation on the island. The fare is cheap and they are available any time of the day. If you know how to ride a motorbike, I highly recommend renting a motorbike. It's best to ride with a motorbike if you want to save you time and money for strolling around the town proper.

When Is The Best Time To Visit Siargao

The best time to visit Siargao will depend on the things that you want to do. If you are looking for high waves, I suggest visiting the island from July to November, the surfing season in Siargao. If you only want to visit Siargao's best destinations, I recommend visiting Siargao from March to May. These months cover the summer season.

Best Places in Siargao

Cloud 9

Cloud 9 is the most popular tourist spot on the beautiful island of Siargao. Dubbed as the "Surfing Capital of the Philippines", Siargao is rated as the best surf break in the Philippines, offering all-year-round good waves. This surfing spot is truly a haven for surfers and beach lovers. The place features a long wooden boardwalk, a 3-story viewing platform, white sands, towering palm trees, a nice cafe, restaurants, and instagrammable resorts

Maasin River

Maasin River is one of the famous tourist destinations on the laid-back island. It's located just a short drive from the famous Cloud 9 surfing spot. This epic place in Siargao can be reached via land transportation. Most of the local and international visitors hired a motorcycle or tricycle to reach this instagrammable destination. Others avail Siargao tour package which includes Maasin River as part of the place to visit. One of the highlights of our tours was a fun swing rope under a palm tree. I felt like a Tarzan while swinging on a rope.

Naked Island, Daku Island and Guyam Island

These three beautiful islands will surely enjoy by beach lovers out there. It features white sand beaches and crystal clear waters. My favorite is Daku Island. It's bigger compared to the two islands. It has a lot of towering trees and small huts line the beach, a perfect place to chill and relax. On other hand, Guyam Island features several Bali-inspired installations, nice spots for your Instagram shoot. Lastly, Naked Island is a small sandbar. There are no trees, plants, and rock formations, only sands. That's why they named this place Naked Island.

Sohoton Cove

Sohoton Cove is my favorite place on the island, Siargao's most picturesque spot. It's located in Bucas Grande Island and an hour boat trip from the popular main tourist hub of Siargao. It features lagoons, beaches, caves, islets, diving cliffs, and jellyfish sanctuary. It's recommended to bring an action camera or protect your cellphone with a waterproof case or pouch to document your adventures in this beautiful place. Tourist attractions to visit include Crystal Cave, Hagukan Cave, Magkuku-Ob Cave, Sohoton Gamay Resort Diving Board, and Tojoman Lagoon (Non-Stinging Jellyfish Sanctuary). Some tourists compare the Sohoton Cove to the Kayangan Lake of Coron, Palawan. Which is better for you?

Magpupungko Rock Pools

Another famous tourist destination in Siargao is Magpupungko Rock Pools. It can be reached by land transportation around a 45-minute drive from General Luna. It features an instagrammable rock pool that appears during low tides. The place is surrounded by several rock formations. It's recommended to wear slippers or aqua shoes to protect your feet from pointed and sharp rocks.

Sugba Lagoon

For those who love cliff diving, Sugba Lagon is another option. It's a 20-minute boat ride from General Luna to the jump-off point in the town of  Del Carmen. Even there's no cliff in the area, there's a diving board on the floating hut. Aside from diving, you can enjoy a lot of activities such as swimming, paddling, kayaking, and relaxing in the cafe.

Coconut Mountain View

This epic road features thousands of towering tropical palm trees. It’s definitely one of the most Instagrammable Siargao tourist spots. Please be advised that it's a road with cars, trucks, and motorcycles. Don't ruin the road if you are planning to take a picture in the middle. It's advisable to use a drone to take photos of the whole area.

Pacifico Beach

Pacifico Beach is another famous surfing destination in Siargao. It's far from the crowd which will give you time to relax and enjoy the beach. It’s approximately an hour's drive from the main tourist spot of General Luna. It features white fine sands, clear blue waters, and lots of coconut trees.
