Getting to Sapporo by Plane:
Sapporo has its own international airport, the New Chitose Airport, which is the largest airport in Hokkaido and serves as a gateway to the city. The airport is located approximately 50 kilometers southeast of Sapporo and is well-connected with various domestic and international airlines.
If you're traveling from overseas, you can take a direct flight to New Chitose Airport from major cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Taipei, Seoul, Bangkok, and Singapore. You can also take connecting flights via Tokyo, Osaka, or Nagoya, which have multiple daily flights to Sapporo.
Once you land at New Chitose Airport, you can take a train, bus, or taxi to reach Sapporo city center. The train is the most popular and affordable option and takes around 40-50 minutes to reach Sapporo Station. The JR Rapid Airport Express train is the fastest and most convenient way to reach Sapporo, with trains departing every 15-20 minutes from the airport.
Getting to Sapporo by Train:
If you're already in Japan, you can also reach Sapporo by train. The city is well-connected with the rest of Japan via the Shinkansen (bullet train) and regular express trains.
The easiest and fastest way to reach Sapporo by train is to take the Hokkaido Shinkansen from Tokyo to Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto Station, which takes approximately 4 hours.
