MV 2GO Maligaya Sails Her Maiden Voyage

MV 2GO Maligaya, the fastest, largest, state-of-the-art vessel in the country, successfully sailed her maiden voyage from Manila on May 30. This new vessel operates on a Manila-Cebu-Cagayan de Oro route and is expected to do round trips twice a week, leaving Manila every Wednesday and Sunday.

The MV 2GO Maligaya was built by Japanese shipbuilders and has a German main engine. It features cruise ship-like amenities that are of international standards, such as private hotel room accommodations, a grand lobby, spacious lounge areas, and restaurants. It can accommodate up to 800 passengers and can carry 40% more twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) of cargo. It's said to be the fastest vessel in the country today and the only vessel that has an elevator. The travel time from Manila to Cebu is around 18- 20 hours.

It's great to know that 2G0 observes proper health and safety protocols to assure safe travels through regular disinfection and sanitation of all vessels and ports of call. All staff and passengers are required to wear a face mask and face shield and practice social distancing from check-in, boarding, and disembarkation at all times. The company also ensures that passengers comply with the local travel requirements of their destinations.

Room

Maligaya offers several clean and spacious rooms. It has State Room which features comfy beds, chairs, a table, a hot and cold shower, and flat-screen TV – just like an airconditioned room in a hotel. There's also a business premium room and a tourist premium room (Tatami Room). If you are traveling solo, with friends or family, Maligaya has a room that will suit your need. It has room for 1 pax, a room for sharing and a room that can accommodate up to 10 people.

I booked the State Room which is located on the 7th level of the ship. It has double single beds with fresh beddings and soft pillows. It has also a small screen TV, a table, chairs, a cabinet, and a  lampshade. This air-conditioned room comes with a private restroom. It has a hot and cold shower, a bathtub, fresh white towels, a Japanese toilet, and complimentary toiletries. I felt like I'm staying in a hotel. I  don't feel the waves outside and I had a good sleep.

Amenities

The ship features 2 dining venues- the Horizon Cafe and Island Fiesta restaurant. Both restaurants offer meals that will not break your bank. The food was good and budget-friendly. I bought a " nilagang baka " with rice for only P105. Occasionally, there's a live band that will perform in Island Fiesta restaurant to entertain passengers.

If you want to have a hair cut, hair color, foot massage, manicure, and pedicure, Maligaya has its own Salon. This spot is a great place to pamper yourself or to treat your loved ones while traveling by sea.

Missing the Karaoke night? No worries, the ship has a karaoke bar. The song list is up to date and the room is spacious. Make sure to practice social distancing while singing.

Other amenities include a convenience store, souvenir shop, gaming room, and a prayer room.

If you are planning to bring your pets with you on your sea travel journey! Yes, you can do that. Just make sure to comply with the updated requirements in bringing pets onboard the vessel.
