Malamawi Beach : A Beautiful White Beach in Isabela City

Malamawi Beach in Isabela City is of one of the best beaches in the province of Basilan. It features a long white sandy beach and turquoise waters like the white beach in Boracay. I never thought that I could see this kind of beautiful beach in Mindanao. Malamawi Beach is an amazing place indeed.

Aside form the powdery sands and crystal waters, another attraction is a stilts bridge with overlooking view of the open sea. At the end of the bridge, there's an area with shades and chairs where you can relax while looking the waves.

Daytour and overnight are allowed in the resort. It has rooms, cottages, smoking area, shower room and toilets.  It's advisable to bring your own food because there's no restaurant available in the resort.

Right in front of the resort is a staircase that has 300 steps and will lead you to one of the islands highest points. It offers stunning view of the resort, the gulf of Basilan and Zamboanga city.

At the moment, there's no water activities available in the resort. No worries, you would surely love the simplicity of the place. Feel the nature by lying down on the white beach. Look at the clear sky and enjoy the breeze of fresh air coming from the coconut trees. I enjoyed the sound of lapping waves and the soft warm sand beneath my feet.

Is it SAFE in Basilan?

Contrary to the stigma, Basilan is a safe province, especially in the city of Isabela. We tour around and I don't feel anything bad about the province. Everywhere is quite safe. We don't even hire police escort. The locals in the island are so accommodating and welcoming. Thanks to all the staff of Isabaea City Tourism for showing us the beauty of your humble town.

Where To Stay In Basilan

If you are planning to stay in the city proper, I recommend to stay in Basilan Business Hotel. This cozy hotel offers comfy rooms, an instagrammable restaurant, minimalist furniture and free WiFi access throughout the property.

We stayed in one of their air-conditioned rooms equipped with  two comfy beds with white and soft linens, flat screen tv, mini refrigerator, working table with lamp, chair, and a coffee/tea maker. The room has private bathroom with shower facility, a spray bidet, fresh towels and complimentary toiletries.

From Manila, take flight to Zamboanga City. You can choose either Cebu Pacific or Philippines. Both airline company offers daily flight Manila to Zamboanga City and vice versa. Travel Time is less than 2 hours.

From Zamboanga city airport, you may take a tricycle going directly to the port /pier. Other option is to take a Jeepney going to Paseo Del Mar. From the terminal, you can walk going to port /pier which is around 15 minutes.

From the pier, take a fast craft going to Isabela City. The first trip is at 6:45 . Travel time is 45 minutes to 1 hour.

From Isabela City Wharf, you can hire habal-habal which is around P100-P150 for one way. Tell the driver that you are going to Malamawi Beach.

If you are planning to visit Malamawi Beach, you may contact Isabela City Tourism and look for Hazel or Claude.
