Hike to Mt. Ayaas with the Merrell Waterpro Maipo 2

One of my favorite outdoor activities is hiking. It is a wonderful way to immerse myself in the nature. It gives me a peace of mind and to discover the beauty of mountains. Even I get blisters, bruises, bug bites and muscle cramps, I don't stop exploring mountains in the Philippines. It's fun yet challenging.

Recently, together with media friends and Merrell PH team, we traveled to Rizal to discover the beauty of Mt. Ayaas and Payaran Waterfalls. Aside from that, we tested Merrell's newest hiking shoes, the Waterpro Maipo 2. We're guided by our friends from Trail Adventours.

Mt. Ayaas is considered as one of the minor mountain destinations in the province of Rizal. It's jump off is located in Brgy. Mascap in the town of Rodriguez. According to our local guide, the summit can be reached around 3-4 hours. Mt. Ayaas offers stunning views of the Sierra Madre and its neighboring mountains, including Mt. Pamitinan, Mt. Binacayan and Mt. Hapunang Banoi.

Before we reach the summit, we passed through concrete roads, dense forests, rivers, and muddy grasslands. It really tested the quality of the Waterpro Maipo 2

The Waterpro Maipo 2 features a Vibram® sole for traction on the trail, synthetic toe bumper for protection, water friendly synthetic and mesh upper and kinetic Fit™ BASE removable contoured EVA insole with water friendly top cover.

What I like about this pair of shoes, it's light and provides a secure fit. It's like hugging my feet while walking or running. The design also promotes automatic drainage of water to prevent slipping and the mesh lining allows for super breathability. Additionally, the Waterpro Maipo 2 dries out quickly.

The Merrell Watrepro Maipo 2 combines a feathery feel with amazing on-trail performance. The lightweight cushioned interior is great for a challenging day-hike or even for long trail days. From walking to concrete road, hiking to rocky and slippery trails to river crossing, the Waterpro Maipo 2 is a perfect pair of shoes to withstand different types of surface.
