Apart from Bangkok and Phuket,  Pattaya is another beautiful destination you should visit in Thailand. It's home to stunning temples, white sand beaches, and extravagant shopping malls. And, of course, happy and friendly locals. 



If you are a backpacker or budget traveler, you want to know how to get to Pattaya from Bangkok via commute. The distance from Bangkok to Pattaya is only about 147 kilometers, which is connected via Highway 7 ( Motorway) and Highway 3 ( Bangna-Chonburi route). The trip takes approximately two hours, depending on your mode of transportation and traffic jams.


There are many ways to reach the humble town of Pattaya. From affordable bus transfers to faster minivans to private tours, here are the best options to get from Bangkok to Pattaya:


 From Bangkok to Pattaya by Taxi


The quickest and most comfortable public transportation from Bangkok to Pattaya is by private taxi, which costs 1200 - 1500 baht. The travel time is around 1 hour and 30 minutes. Remember to ask if the fixed fare includes motorway tolls. You'll be responsible for paying the toll fee by the meter you are paying. 


From Bangkok to Pattaya by Bus


Is there a direct bus bound for Pattaya from Bangkok? A direct bus departs from Bangkok Mo Chit (Northern Bus Terminal) or Ekkamai BTS ( Eastern Bus Terminal) and arrives at Pattaya Bus Terminal. It has daily trips from 5:30am until as late as 11:30 PM. You can book bus tickets through local bus companies' online portals or just show up at the bus terminal on the day you're traveling and buy a seat on the next available bus. The travel time is around two and a half hours. The ticket cost is about 130 baht.


To get to Mo Chit or Ekkamai bus terminal, you may take a taxi or book a grab car / bike.

The trip takes 2.5 to three hours, depending on traffic. To book a ticket, you need to go to the bus terminal, buy a seat, and can be paid it in cash. The ticket costs around 150-200 baht.



From Bangkok to Pattaya by Train


If you want to experience riding a train to Pattaya, you can get to Bangkok's Hua Lamphong train station. It's not the fastest, but this is one of the most exciting and cheapest transportation options to get you to Pattaya. Seats on the train cannot be booked in advance and can only be paid for in cash. On weekdays, the train leaves Bangkok before 7AM towards Pattaya before. Please be reminded that there are only two trains available daily. The cost is from 31 baht to 150 baht.  


How To Get From Dom Mueang Airport, Bangkok To Pattaya


Getting from Don Mueang Airport to Pattaya is most accessible by taxi and will cost around 1,500- 2,000 baht.  Another option is to take a cab or grab car from the airport to one of the bus stations.
