Baguio-Cebu flights to start this December

Great news travelers, especially for our friends from Baguio and Cebu. The city officials of Baguio City recently announced that they are now polishing the operation of domestic trips from Baguio City to Cebu City and vice versa. That means that travelers like you may be able to travel from the City of Pines to the Queen City of the South in a matter of hours. It's now more convenient for everyone to travel to and from Baguio City.

The Baguio City officials,  Philippine Airlines (PAL) and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) together with the Department of Transportation (DoTR) are working for the rehabilitation of the Loakan Airport to accommodate commercial flights by the end of the year.

Baguio City Mayor Benjamin shared that Philippine Airlines already purchased 5 aircraft for the Baguio-Cebu flights and vice versa. As per CAAP, the rehabilitation will include the improvement of the airport’s instrument landing system and runway extension from 1.683 meters to 100 meters. On the other hand, DoTR is working on the issuance of the required environmental compliance certificate from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources ( DENR).

The local government hopes that once the airport is operational, more airlines like Cebu Pacific and AirAsia will also offer flights to and from Baguio City.
