Coron Town Tour Travel Guide 2024

Coron in the Philippines is one of the dream destinations for some Filipinos and international travelers. The town offers several beautiful spots that will surely bring joy and excitement to your Coron adventure. On this blog, I'll be sharing a comprehensive guide when traveling around the town. Usually, the town tour is the first activity to do on your first day in Coron.

How To Get To Coron

Airlines such as Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, and Sunlight fly between Manila and Coron Palawan. From Busuanga airport, take a van going to the town proper. The fare is around P150 to P200. If you take advantage of a Coron package tour,  it comes with a roundtrip airport transfer.

Another option is to travel by ferry with 2Go Travel. The fare is cheaper compared to airlines.  The Philippines'  largest premier sea travel provider offers a regular trip from Manila to Coron and vice versa.

Getting Around Coron

Coron is a small town in the province of Palawan. If you want to stroll around, it's best to rent a motorbike. Please make sure you have a license when renting a motorcycle. These motorbikes for rent are available in some hotels and inns. You may also search online on where to rent a motorbike in Coron.

Tricycles are the main mode of transportation in downtown Coron.  Fare is cheap and they are available any time of the day. If you are planning to visit Maquinit Hot Springs, it's far so you need to hire a tricycle.

Where To Stay In Coron

For backpackers and budget travelers, I recommend staying in Luis Bay Travelers Lodge. You can get an air-conditioned room for less than P1000 overnight. The signal is fast. The property also offers fan rooms for less than P500.

Another budget-friendly hotel in Coron is Mountain View Garden Inn Coron. This 3-star hotel features comfy accommodation with a terrace, outdoor swimming pool, and free private parking for guests who drive. Each air-conditioned rooms have a private bathroom and FREE WiFi.

Vienna Hotel is another affordable accommodation in Coron. It's strategically located at Mount Tapyas facing Kayangan Lake with the bird's eye view from the roof deck and some of our deluxe rooms. It is a 5-min walk from the heart of the town where banks, restaurants, souvenir shops are located.

For high-end hotels and resorts, you may consider between Two Seasons Coron Island Resort & Spa or Sunlight Guest Hotel Coron. These properties offer cozy rooms, a restaurant, and a variety of recreational facilities. You will surely enjoy their infinity pool facing Coron Bay.

Where To Eat in Coron

Santino's Grill is one of the must-visit restaurants in Coron. It's a simple  Filipino restaurant located in the town proper offering several Pinoy dishes. From pork, beef, chicken vegetables to seafood, the restaurant has a lot of food to offer to every tourist.  The food is affordable and delicious.  What I like about this restaurant, it offers big servings.

Kawayan Grill is one of the biggest known restaurants in Coron. It serves Filipino cuisine and some exotic & seafood dishes.

Places To Visit in Coron

My town tour was organized by JY Travel and Tours Coron Palawan. It's a solo traveler or joiner package for P700. The tour includes transportation, tour guide, and entrance fee.

Activities To Do In Coron Town: Photo and Video shooting, Minor Trekking, Hotspring Dip, Souvenir Shopping

Coron Town Plaza

Our first stop was in Town Plaza. You will find here the giant "Coron" sign which is a perfect background for photo ops. The place is clean and simple with the view of Coron Bay.   And if you are looking for a spot that offers beautiful sunset, the Coron plaza is the place to be. The sunset here was truly magnificent.

Mt Tapyas View Deck

Prepare your legs for over 700 concrete steps before you could reach the summit of Mt. Tapyas. There's no require entrance fee to climb the mountain. I saw a lot of locals doing their exercise routine going up to the view deck. No wonder why they love to stay here. The place is surrounded by plants and trees with a majestic view of the town.  You will find here an eye-catching "Coron" sign and giant cross. The hike will only take 15-20 minutes. Watch out for your steps because I saw a crawling snake along my way.

Souvenir Shop

A souvenir shop is a must place to visit if you are looking for things that you want to share with your family and friends. The shop sells key chains, t-shirts, dream catcher, accessories, and many more. I bought a hanging decor for less than P200. The key chains price is from P30 to P100 depending on its size and design.

St. Augustin Church

They say that Saint Agustin Church is the only Roman Catholic in Coron.  It's a beautiful church in the center of the town. The church offers Tagalog or English mass and it's open to the public all day. Don't forget to pray. We stayed here for a couple of minutes.

Cashew Factory

I thought we are going to a big factory to see how the cashew products are being processed. Surprisingly, it's only a small store that sells different products made up of cashew.

Maquinit Hot Spring

Maquinit is the most popular tourist spot in the town proper. We arrived at the resort past 6 o'clock in the evening.  I didn't check our itinerary for that day and I didn't know that we are going to a hot spring.  There are only a few guests in the resort.  I removed my shirt and pants and dipped my body into the hot water.  The temperature was less than 40 degrees celsius. It's very relaxing.  I'll definitely go back here.

On my next blog, I'll be sharing a travel guide about Twin Lagoon, CYC Beach, Las Islas De Coral, Sunset Beach, Green Lagoon, Quin Reefa, Barakuda Lake, Banana Island, Malcapua Island, Kayangan Lake, and many more!
