Boracay Island in the New Normal ( Travel Requirements )

Boracay Island, a white beach in the Philippines, is one of the local destinations that opens its door for domestic tourists. So if you are planning to visit Boracay anytime soon, let me share some tips and guides before you travel to this beautiful island.

Travel Requirements

  1. Negative RT-PCR Test Result  or A Negative Saliva Swab Test Result from Philippine Red Cross with the date of extraction with 72 hours to date of travel
  2. Roundtrip Fight Details
  3. Confirmed DOT accredited Hotel Booking
  4. Health Declaration Form
  5. Boracay Tourist QR Code
  6. ID

Present a Negative RT-PCR Test Result

One of the most important documents that you must have is the Negative RT-PCR Test Result. This is a must-have requirement to make sure you are free from the covid 19 viruses.  Please be advised that Boracay will only accept negative swab test results taken within 72 hours before your flight. You should take your swab only in Licensed Covid 19 Testing Laboratories. You may check it here.

If you are looking for a cheap swab test, you may apply for the Tourism Promotion Board ( TPB) subsidized swab test for as low as P750. Please be advised that this program is for only domestic tourists. You can submit your application here. For a more comprehensive guide about this 50% COVID 19 RT-PCR test subsidy, you may check it here.

Secure your flights to Boracay

It's advisable to book a ticket after you get the negative swab test result. If you already booked your airline tickets before the swab test, that's perfectly fine. A copy of your confirmed flight is needed when applying for a 50% RT-PCR test subsidy. There are a lot of domestic airlines that are now offering flights from Manila to Boracay and vice versa. In case there's an emergency and you need to cancel your flight, most airline companies are offering unlimited rebooking. Putting your refund into the travel fund is also another option.

Secure your Resort / Hotel Booking

Confirmed hotel /resort booking from the DOT accredited is another requirement that you need to submit to get a QR code from the local government of Aklan. The same thing with an airline ticket, it's advisable to book a hotel or resort after getting the negative swab test result. Again, there's no problem if you book early your hotel in Boracay. Please be advised that some hotels in Boracay don't process a refund in case you decided to cancel a room reservation. No worries, you can rebook it on your preferred date.

Don't forget to check if your favorite hotel in Boracay is on DOT Accommodation Establishments with CAO/PAO  in the Facebook Account of DOT VI Western Visayas. You may check accredited hotels for tourists here.

Fill Out Health Declaration Form

In order to get a QR code from Aklan, you must fill out a declaration form online. You may visit  https://www.touristboracay.com/ and select BORACAY to access the official health declaration form.

Please be advised that the form will ask for your personal information like your complete name, address, birthdate, valid id number, etc, You also need to disclose Travel and Booking details as well as Health Information.

Submit all the requirements via email

If you already have the negative  RT-PCR test result, flight booking, hotel/resort booking, and a completed health declaration form,  you will need to submit copies of these documents along with a valid government-issued ID via email. Please submit your documents at least 12 hours or more before your flights to avoid delays.

Email: touristboracay@gmail.com

Subject: OHDC-FamilyName-FirstName

Attach the following documents:

  1. RT-PCR Negative Test Results with the date of extraction (List of Accredited Laboratories)
  2. Confirmed flight booking (within 72 hours of RT-PCR Test)
  3. Hotel reservation (List of Accredited Accommodations)
  4. Proof of identification with Philippine residency indicated (Valid government-issued ID i.e. Passport, SSS Drivers License)

Please be advised that the local government unit of Aklan will reply via email if your application is approved or denied. If you are approved, you will get a copy of the Health Declaration Card with Tourist QR Code which will be sent to your email address. Keep the Tourist QR Code with you at all times. Have a printed or digital copy. The QR Code will be used in the ports of entry/exit (land, air, sea) as well as in accessing services in Boracay Island.

If your application is rejected, an email will be sent to you requesting additional requirements or clarification. Please immediately comply with this to avoid delays in the QR Code release.

Your Tourist QR Code has an expiry of twelve (12) hours from your accommodation checkout time. If you are extending your stay in Boracay Island, please send an email with a new booking slip showing the extension to touristboracay@gmail.com before your original checkout time.

Follow Boracay's strict guidelines and health protocols

You are required to wear face masks and face shields before entering the airport terminal. You should also follow all the guidelines on social distancing, proper hand hygiene, temperature check, and Health Declaration requirements
