Biking is one of the most popular sports in Taiwan. You can find here numerous biking trails that offer beautiful sceneries and pleasant climates. Most trails feature natural attractions such as mountains, rivers, lakes, trees and other amazing landscapes.
Aside from the Sun Moon Lake Bike Trail, we also experienced to bike in the Houfeng Bikeway in Taichung. It features a 4.5Km bike trail along the old mountain railway line.
We rented an e-bike (electric bicycle) and we started to cross and explore the country side scenes and then through a long tunnel. Biking inside the tunnel is truly fun. There's no bad smell and the path is really clean.
Aside from bikers, we found a lot of running enthusiasts along the way. No wonder why Taiwanese love to run and to bike. They have great running and biking trails. The Houfeng Bikeway is a bike-friendly destination and the whole area is safe.
After the old rail tunnel, we passed through beautiful steel bridge. It offers majestic scenery of the Dajia River. It's a little bit scary but the beautiful view will cover up your fear. This is my first time to bike on a steel bridge.
At the end of the bridge, we found one of the oldest wineries in Taiwan. It sells several alcoholic beverages especially fruit flavors wines. They use of the highest -quality fresh grapes and use advance technology and equipment for making wine. What I like about this winery, they offer free wine-tasting sessions for all visitors. Wines are also cheaper compare to other brands.
Biking is truly fun in Taiwan. This activity is not just riding on the road, it's a beautiful hobby or sport that can help you lose weight and maintain a healthy body fat ratio. Aside from the health benefits, it makes you happy because of the amazing sceneries along the trail.
