European adventures are becoming more accessible to Filipino travelers as AirAsia Philippines expands its international connectivity, offering passengers a convenient route from the Philippines to Istanbul through its Kuala Lumpur hub.
With AirAsia’s extensive network in Kuala Lumpur, travelers from the Philippines can fly to the Malaysian capital before continuing to Istanbul, Türkiye. The expanded connectivity provides another travel option for Filipinos planning to visit Türkiye and other destinations across Europe.
The route is further supported by AirAsia’s codeshare partnership with Pegasus Airlines, Türkiye’s largest low-cost carrier (LCC). Through the partnership, passengers traveling via Kuala Lumpur and Istanbul can connect to a wider network of European cities.
AirAsia Philippines President and CEO Anna Lu Victoria said the airline recognizes that visiting Europe remains a long-held aspiration for many Filipinos. She noted that the cost of travel and complexities surrounding European trips can sometimes make the destination seem out of reach. According to Victoria, AirAsia’s Fly-Thru service and partnership with Pegasus are intended to help make international travel more accessible as the AirAsia Group continues expanding beyond ASEAN.
Once travelers arrive in Istanbul, they can connect onward to several destinations, including London, Moscow, Ankara, Zurich and Athens, among others. This gives Filipino passengers additional options for planning multi-country European itineraries from Southeast Asia.
The expanded connectivity also gives travelers more opportunities to experience Europe's historic landmarks, diverse cultures and iconic destinations, whether they are planning their first European holiday or finally checking the continent off their travel bucket list.
AirAsia currently operates 12 weekly flights from Manila to Kuala Lumpur, while its Cebu-Kuala Lumpur route operates three times weekly. These services provide passengers from the Philippines with access to AirAsia’s Kuala Lumpur hub and its broader international network.
Travelers will have even more flexibility starting February 2027, when AirAsia plans to increase its Kuala Lumpur-Istanbul service from four flights per week to seven flights per week.
With the additional flight options and connectivity through Kuala Lumpur and Istanbul, AirAsia Philippines is expanding travel possibilities for Filipino passengers looking to go beyond Asia. The initiative also highlights the airline's continued focus on providing more affordable and accessible international travel options for the Philippine market.
