Day Tour in Kota Kinabalu with KKday

Before traveling to Kota Kinabalu, I read some blogs about this beautiful state of Sabah, Malaysia, making sure that some of the must-visit tourist destinations will be included on my itinerary. Kota Kinabalu is often known as KK both in Malaysia and internationally. It is a major tourist destination and a popular gateway for travellers visiting Sabah and Borneo. Most of the travelers visit KK to witness the beauty of Mount Kinabalu, the highest mountain in Malaysia.

On my first day in Kota Kinabalu, we explored one of Borneo's tallest mountains as well the Poring Hot Springs, Desa Cow Farm, & the Moroli River Fish Spa. KKday arranged the tour for me. The package tour includes hotel transfer, Malaysian Cuisine as Lunch, Roasted Wild Boar Food Trip, Entrance fee, Refflesia Entrance Fee, Tips and Insurance. I was joined with a group which composed of travellers from Taiwan. Our guide can talk in both Mandarin and English. After our guide gave the destination's information in English, he translated it immediately in Mandarin.

Our first stop was in Desa Cow Farm. It's a smooth and long ride and took us almost an hour to reach the farm. This beautiful farm featuring green pastures with cattle all around, is the perfect place to witness the majestic Mt. Kota Kinabalu. The scenery was truly breathtaking. The atmosphere of the farm was like in New Zealand. Yes it is! You could find lots of cows eating fresh grasses with picturesque background of hills and mountains. I enjoyed taking pictures to these amazing creatures. They're adorable! Before leaving the farm, we tasted their ice cream and some dairy products. It's really delicious and refreshing.

After our tour in Desa Cow Farm, we went to Poring Theme Park / Poring Hot Spring, one of the “must-visit” attractions in Sabah. You can find here glorious Japanese style baths, rainforest, rafflesia flower, waterfalls, cave, canopy walk, orangutan/ monkey, orchid farm, butterfly garden, etc. I recommend to bring towel and dip your feet or whole body in the spring’s hot sulphuric minerals., which seem to have unique healing properties and this is extremely famous amongst the locals. If you prefer cold dip, no worries, there is also a cold water pool nearby. If you feel hungry after the tour, there's a restaurant inside the forest park that offers meals and refreshing beverages.

One of highlights of our tour in forest park was walking in hanging bridge, 40 meter above ground level. This activity is definitely not for people who afraid in heights. The Canopy Treetop Walk invites every tourist to witness the grandeur of a hundred million-year old rainforest, from a 175m length walkway suspended 60 meters above lush jungly tangles.

In Maroli River Fish Spa, we’re able to play with the friendly fishes. You can see it up close and if you’re not afraid, you can touch it. The locals are not catching these colorfull fishes and they allow these fishes to swim freely in the river.

After the close encounter with the fishes, we went to a small food hub that sell roasted wild boar. They grilled it and served hot to the customers with unique sauce. The taste is like a regular grilled pork.  This food hub also sell coffee, juices and alcoholic beverages.

Overall, the daytour was a bit tiring yet enjoying. The KKday tour is hassle FREE and fun tour. Our tour guide from KKDay can speak both Mandarin and English. He's very knowledgeable on each destination we visited. He's also a cool guy. I'm surprised that he know some of the destinations in the Philippines. Thanks KKDay for the wonderful experience.
