Mt. Hapunang Banoi in Rodriguez Rizal | Dayhike

Hapunang Banoi is a mountain located in Rodriguez, Rizal, Philippines. It is part of the Sierra Madre mountain range and is a popular destination for hiking and trekking enthusiasts. The mountain stands at around 517 meters above sea level and is known for its stunning views of the surrounding landscapes, including the nearby Wawa Dam and the Sierra Madre mountain range.

Past 3 o'clock in the morning, we started to travel to Rodriguez Rizal. Our early escapade was very smooth. It's advisable to drive early in the morning because there's no traffic. No hustle at all! We arrived at exactly 4:30AM in Barangay Wawa, the jump-off point. We saw a lot of climbers / DIYers registering their names and paying the necessary fees.

Before we headed to DENR, I already contacted our guide, Sir Ronald. He was referred by my younger brother. After we registered our name, we started to trek. The trail was friendly during the first few hours of our hike. We walked on rough, rocky roads after passing the hanging bridge. We also passed in a rocky ridge of sharp limestone to reach the summit.

The're no major ascent, the only challenge was the sharp and pointed rocks along the trail. Everyone put an extra care on stepping and touching these rocks. One wrong step can cause damage or injury. It's better to wear gloves. There're available cheap gloves near the DENR which cost from P50-P100.

At the summit, we're welcomed with breathtaking views of the nearby mountains like the twin mountains of Mt. Pamitinan and Mt Binacayan as well as the distinctive Mt. Ayaas We stayed and rested for minutes. The air was really refreshing. Even it's too hot that day, the wind was still relaxing.

Sir Ronald took a lot of photos of us. He's really a great guide and photographer. Even he had no proper training in photography, he can able to capture great photos. What I like about him, he's proactive in taking pictures. He also knows the right pose and angle. I really recommend him to be your guide. Contact him at 09124496971

  1. Great review! May I know if there are porta potty or restrooms around the area?
