The Circle Hostel: Sanctuary for Surfer and Backpacker

For backpacker and surfer, The Circle Hostel is the right place for you. It's a budget-friendly accommodation which surrounded with different form of arts, native houses and apparels for swimming and surfing.

Situated in the surfing paradise of San Juan, La Union, The Circle Hostel is the best option for budget traveler like me. It's not the usual hostel that we see in the Metro and other beach resorts that offer air-conditioned and fan rooms. This hostel offers accommodation that includes bunk beds, hammocks, and tent (bring you own tent). Each bunk bed has comfortable bed toppings, built in mosquito and privacy curtains. Each hammock has built-in mosquito net.

Other amenities and services include hot and cold shower (common CR), Free Wifi, Free Painting, grill area, lockers (please bring own padlock) and complimentary surfer's breakfast. It has a bankhouses with 45 single beds (Php450) and 35 hammock spaces (Php250).

Aside from the cheap accommodation, it has enticing and unique atmosphere that encourages you to interact with other guests. There's a big "kubo" or should I say a common area for social gatherings. This area is the best place to do the "inuman session," kulitan with friends, sleeping while listening to whisper of the winds and birds. You can also practice yoga here.  I really agree that "No one is a stranger" in this place.

The Circle is 200 meters away from the beach. The sand is pure but not as white compare with other beaches in Zambales like Anawangin, Potipot and Magalawa Island. You will notice immediately the big waves that move to the shore.

Surfing is one best outdoor activities while you are staying in San Juan. The town is known for the surfing paradise in the north. You can find here a lot of surfers indulging their favorite water sport.

If you want to learn surfing, there are instructors with their surfboards roaming around the area. The rate is depend on how you negotiate, but usually it ranges from Php200 -Php 300 per hour.
