Day hike to Mt. Batulao

It was raining cats and dogs when we arrived in Mt. Batulao. We're welcomed with vast grassland and sloping landscapes. It was rough, muddy trails with a combination of ascending and descending hills. We always make sure we're prepared on this situation.

Mt. Batulao lies between Balayan and Nasugbu towns of Batangas. It stands more than 800 meters above sea level and considered as a minor a climb with with 60-70 degrees assault. The jump-off point is located at Evercrest Golf Course (Hillcrest), Nasugbu with 2-4 hours trek going to the peak of the mountain. For a first-timer, you don't need to worry because it's not difficult to reach the summit.

Summer season is the best time to visit the mountain. No muddy trail and slippery road! Be careful on the sharp-tipped spiny burs of unwanted plants along trail. It's advisable to wear rashguard for those who have sensitive skin. Put also sunblock or lotion with sunscreen to protect your skin from the direct heat of the sun.

At the summit of Mt Batulao, we enjoyed the view of nearby mountains, amazing rock formations, and mind-boggling clouds. Everything was awesome! The long hours of walking paid off.  We stayed here and embraced the refreshing air for more than 30 minutes. The scenery from the top was pleasing to the eyes.

What's funny about this mountain, you can buy fresh coconuts and halo-halo (crushed ice mixed with different fruits and milk) along the trail. At the summit, there're vendors selling refreshing drinks and other goodies. I'm not in favor of these activities. It could cause harm to the mountain.
