Ultimate Guide for Budget Traveler and Adventure Seeker

Traveling with ASUS Zenfone 3 Zoom

Many of us take our phones with us wherever we go. We spend a good amount of time on our phones till the end of the day. We check e-mails, update our social networking accounts, play games, listen to music, and take pictures and videos. With the advance technology of today's smartphones, our work become faster and easier.

As a traveler and photography enthusiast, it's essential for me to have a great camera. I bring DSLR, action cam and  smartphone every time I have out of town trips. A DSLR provides a better image quality.  It comes with a highly advanced autofocus system with wide apertures, much wider than the zoom lenses on compacts. On the other hand, the action camera is a perfect travel gear for capturing actions and views with the extreme adventures. I really love my DSLR and action cam but most of the time I use my phone as the main camera when I travel. Honestly, the reason why I don't much use my DSLR is because its weight and size is inconvenient especiIally when hiking.

Every time I upgrade my phone, I check first the quality of the camera. I know for a fact that most smartphone cameras now can capture great photos and videos. They have almost the same features and performances like DSLR.

Recently I used the ASUS ZenFone 3 Zoom on our trip in Camarines Norte, Philippines. With its quality camera and stellar battery life, the ZenFone 3 Zoom is a great pick for travelers.

Let's go to the specs of the phone. The ASUS ZenFone 3 Zoom, a follow up to 2015's ZenFone Zoom, featuring solid specs for a reasonable price. The phone comes with a 5.5-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1080 pixels by 1920 pixels. It has remarkably slim metal body with elegant color options in Navy Black, Glacier Silver and Rose Gold.

The Zenfone 3 Zoom is powered by 2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor and runs on the latest Android 6.0 operating system. This smartphone packs 32GB of internal storage that is expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card.

You want to know about its camera? Well, the ASUS ZenFone 3 Zoom is equipped with 12-megapixel primary camera on the rear and a 13-megapixel front shooter for selfies. This smartphone is perfect  for zooming. It has innovative dual-lens optics with its ƒ/1.7 SONY IMX362 sensor and 2.3x optical zoom camera that capture super-sharp, close-up photos and videos from right where you stand, and with just a single tap. Also, the ZenFone 3 Zoom is ideal smartphone for ultra-clear and vivid night or low light shots and photography of backlight subjects.

I took a shot with my travel blogger friend (@kennethsurat) from the top of the rock formation. With the normal shot, he looked so small and I can't see the details of his face. When I used the zoom-in feature, the Zenfone 3 Zoom surprisingly produced a quality image. With its clarity, I'm really impressed. Some smartphones I used before, when I zoom in the camera, the image became pixilated.

Like DSLR, the ZenFone 3 Zoom has a manual mode to feel like a pro! These include one-touch control over shutter speed, white balance, EV, ISO and metering, plus two features unique in the ZenFone range to ZenFone 3 Zoom: support for the professional RAW photo format, and the ability to switch instantly between the dual lenses for either 25mm or 59mm focal length.

With its 5000mAh non removable battery, it's the best battery life ever. I don't need to worry if I forget to bring a powerbank. I have a peace of mind that I can use this smartphone the whole day.

Overall, with its advanced dual-lens smartphone-camera system, 2.3x optical-zoom camera and world-beating 5000mAh battery, the ASUS ZenFone 3 Zoom is a perfect smartphone for travelers. I love its superb performance. It packs more zoom camera than I've seen in a smartphone.

Meanwhile, most of the images taken from ASUS Zenfone 3 Zoom was shot in Parola Island also known as Pink Beach. It's virgin and unspoiled beach surrounded with semi pinkish color, a mixture of white sand and a rough reddish one (miniature coral fragments). The island also fringed with coconut trees and several plants
