Mountains are always calling me. It's always in my mind every time I'm alone in my room or when I'm bored at work. Usually, I look photos of mountains on Facebook and Instagram. One of the mountains that caught my attention was Mt. Balagbag. According to some of my friends, they only spent around 200 pesos. That's really freaking awesome. Right?
Our first plan last weekend was to visit the newest backpaker's destination in Batangas, the Layag Layag Island or any white beach in Nasugbo or Calatagan. Due to the conflict of my schedule, I decided to plan a day hike to Mt. Balagbag.
At over 700 MASL, Mt. Balagbag is part of the Sierra Madre range, which stands in the middle of Central and Southern Luzon. It's located at the boundaries of San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan and Rodriguez, Rizal. From the summit, you will see the spectacular view of Metro Manila's Skyline.
Mt. Balagbag is considered as minor climb which trail class is 1-2 and difficulty is 3 out of 9. For the first timer in hiking, this mountain fits for you. The trail is easy and visible. The only problem is... it's really hot especially during summer. It's almost bare where you can't find shades and trees along the trail.
Aside from hiking, this mountain also a favorite destination of runners, bikers and 4x4 wheel enthusiasts. It's a great training venue for them before joining a competition. The trail is also wide so big cars can go up near the helipad.

DeleteLooking for hikes like this. Ever since I dislocated my shoulder last Dec, I'm not able to do much activities like hiking so I'm looking for hikes that are not too difficult like this one as a start over. It's quite far from where I live though. But I'll add it to my list.
