Oriental Palace | Chinese Restaurant in the heart of Quezon City

If you are looking for a great restaurant in Quezon City the offers authentic Chinese food, the Oriental Palace is a must-visit resto. It's located at Scout Gandia corner Tomas Morato.

The Oriental Palace Restaurant and Banquet Hall is owned by a Chinese family headed by Mr. Henry Chua. This family business was started in 1978 and traced its roots to Wah Yuen (Chinese Garden), a famous dim sum and noodles resto across the Love Bus in Escolta.

This Chinese restaurant has three entrance. One is located along the main road of Tomas Morato (beside Jollibee), the other one is along Scout Gandia and the third entrance is along Scout De Guia. You will be welcomed with a spacious room with tables and chairs. The ambiance is tastefully Chinese. Near the kitchen, you can find aquariums featuring different kinds of live seafood like fish, crab, lobster, etc.

For the celebration of Chinese New Year, Oriental Palace created lucky dishes that would bring abundance, good fortune and prosperity. These lucky dishes were based on the study of Feng Shui Expert Mr. Johnson Chua, an esteemed and popular Feng Shui expert. I was invited to their good resto to taste the dishes that would be part of the Chinese New Year menu.

According to Chris Chester Chua, manager of Oriental Palace, his father (Henry), woke up early in the morning to get the freshest ingredients in the market. He also added his father prepares some of the orders of their customers.

Steamed Live Rock Lobster with Garlic

One of my favorite dishes was the Steamed Live Rock Lobster with Garlic. It's very tasteful and delicious. The taste of the garlic perfectly blend to the meat of the lobster.

 Steamed Crab with Sticky Rice

Another dish that standout was the Steamed Crab with Sticky Rice. There're fresh crabs seasoned with fine spices on top of the brown sticky rice. This is like one complete meal. It has rice with "ulam."

Steamed Live Twin Lapu Lapu

Some of you don't know that I love to eat fish especially the fresh one. Yes, I love seafood! The staff served a yummy Steamed Live Twin Lapu Lapu. The fish meat is very soft and tasty. I don't also taste the stench of fish.

Whole Suckling Pig

For meat lovers, the resto offers Whole Suckling Pig. This is their version of "lechon." The skin was crispy and the meat was tender.

Whole Dried Scallop with Sea Moss

There're some dishes not familiar on my tastebuds. These are Whole Dried Scallop with Sea Moss, Whole Sea Cucumber with Australian Abalone and Deep Fried Pigeon. I cant' really explain their taste but you need to try it. It's very authentic and their taste is very interesting.

Whole Sea Cucumber with Australian Abalone

Deep Fried Pigeon

Try also their Asado and Polo Pao. It's a bread with a twist. It's freshly baked. They're really different from the asado bread  or toasted siopao that we usually buy in store. Really recommended!

Aside from fresh juices and soda, Oriental Palace also serves alcoholic beverages. Just to let you know, there will be a free bottle of the limited edition Hennessy V.S.O.P. for every order of Oriental Palace's Chinese New Year set menu.

Meanwhile, Oriental Palace Restaurant and Banquet Hall has a total floor dining area of 1200 sqm which can accommodate around 600- 800 persons. This is a perfect venue for different occasions like birthday celebration, wedding, anniversary, Chinese New Year, graduation, holiday celebrations, or simply to dinner with family or friends.
