Batanes is part of the Philippine archipelago that has a tropical rainforest climate. Summer starts on the island around March and will be ended May. The rainy season comes during the month of August. Tourists should go to the province around March to May when most of the time the weather is sunny. You can wear your summer attire if you travel to Batanes these months.

For men, wearing either shirt or pullover paired with pastel color shorts or jogging pants is advisable. For women, you can wear a shirt with a sweater paired with a long skirt. If you walk around the area at night, don't forget to wear a pullover or jacket. It's colder during the night than in the afternoon.

Batanes is also famous for its people called Ivatans. These are Filipino ethnolinguistic groups predominant in the province. Most of the time, they are wearing long-sleeved shirt or pullovers. They're also famed for having traditional vests and salakot also known as vacul (native hat).

For those who will travel to Batanes, you can wear any clothing apparel as long it looks decent and you are comfortable wearing it. How to get to Batanes

The fastest way to get to Batanes from Manila is by plane. Limited local airlines offer flights from Manila to Batanes and vice versa.  Travel time takes 1 hour and 45 minutes. The aircraft will drop its passengers in Basco, where the main airport is located.




If you plan to go to Batanes,  you must book as early as now. There are only limited flights going to the province. You must also remember to get your tickets months before your scheduled trip. There are around 10 flights a week from Manila Ninoy Aquino to Basco, the capital of Batanes.

Philippine Airlines via Pal Express is the most popular airline flying from Manila to Basco. It uses the 76-seater Bombardier Q400 turboprop aircraft, which operates in NAIA Terminal 3.

Another local airline that offers flights from Manila to Batanes is Skyjet Airlines. The airline has 3 flights per week from Manila and from Tuguegarao(Cagayan) by small local airliners.

The schedule of flights by these airlines can be found directly on their websites. 

The best time to go to Batanes is during the summer, from March to April. Regular ticket price sometimes goes up to more than Php 10,000. If you can find a ticket promo/sale, don't think twice; book as early as possible. Flying to Batanes is expensive compared to other local destinations, especially during peak season and holidays.
